In my mind I’m cruising along the Viking way and the music plays, and rock is here and it’s scuzzy chalk, no macho muso, (fuck off DG, love you ESG), the chord changes have quietened, no need to show off, and as it sits still in drone we can notice each moment and wave to the beach crows, meditation but without the gap year collective, the blessed curse are busy dunking themselves, and hip hop is here like its always been but we’re out of the race like an afternoon dawn so there’s no need to shout and there’s no need to claw, and my guitar is here like it always is, falling in triplets like the motherland, curled like my ghostly hair, sidestepping the trot, not joining the dots, letting them swim before our eyes, making space for all jots, blots and clots in this free plot spot, no limits to expression when the old links rot.
